The first edition of MW symposium aimed at discussing and promoting the creative process for the development of new human-machine interfaces that related to the design of health care services and wellness devices. These interfaces include the emerging technologies that derive from the state of the art, such as augmented reality, virtual or mixed reality and smart devices such as wearables that integrate biosensors for the reading of human physiological data, offering biofeedback experience strategies. In this context, the field of robotics and the impact of artificial intelligence in the design of new immersive experiences centered on consumer needs, was addressed. It was given special attention to the field of assistive technologies that can promote the quality of life and contribute to the positive change of human behavior, towards a more sustainable society. The sympoisum also introduced the concept of translational design that suggests the understanding of Design as a growing, transversal and multidisciplinary scientific area.
